9 Final Steps To Take As You Prepare For Valentine's Day

The countdown to Valentine’s Day is on! Are you and your team prepared and ready to go for one of the busiest days of the year? Have you thought about the final steps you should take as you prepare for Valentine’s Day?

By now you’ve already got your client orders in and flower orders placed (I hope), and have started with preparations. So what’s next? Prepare yourself to be confident, equipped and ready for action!

In this week’s blog, we are sharing 9 final steps to take as you prepare for Valentine’s Day.

LET THE FINAL PREPARATIONS BEGIN!

We are only 12 days away from the biggest holiday of love, Valentine’s Day.

The arrangements and bouquets that you will be making for your clients this holiday are so special. Your clients have come to you because they trust you and they know that you will deliver quality products to their loved ones.

As you would prep for a wedding, event, private party, etc., we hope you are preparing all that you need for this Valentine’s Day. We truly hope that it is a success for you and your business both creatively and profitably.

To ensure that you give your best, we want to share with you some final steps to take as you prepare for the big day. We invite you to take what you need from this list and don’t forget to find joy during the chaotic moments.

  1. Prepare Your Workspace.

“You fail to plan. You plan to fail.”

Before Valentine’s Day is here, do yourself a favor and prepare your workspace and tools. Double-check you have enough tape, shears, wires, compotes, vases, backups, buckets, brooms, dust-pans, etc., Organizing your workspace will alleviate headaches and leave more room for you to pour into your work. Also, clean your tools and buckets. Make sure everything is sanitized, bacteria-free, and buckets are filled with fresh water. Set yourself up for success!

  2. Prepare Your Schedules & Double Check Your Orders.

Double and triple check your orders and makes sure your pick up and delivery schedules are on track. Taking the time to look over your orders will help you know exactly what is going on and what to expect. Be sure to set your team up for success by neatly having your day structured and organized. Go over your schedule for the day and double-check addresses and contact information are all accurate to avoid hiccups and delays with pickups and deliveries.

  3. Prepare To Delegate, Divide & Conquer Tasks.

No matter if this is your first big Valentine’s Day or you’ve been doing this for years, delegating is key. Make smart decisions when delegating work. Allow yourself and your team to hone in on everyone's zone of genius to help get the work done successfully. Divide up what you can and communicate regularly with any changes or updates. Do not be afraid to use your voice to ask for help when needed or to effectively guide or direct someone.

  4. Prepare Your Team.

If you are working with a freelancer for the first time, reach out to them and make sure they are still available and are ready to go. Regularly communicating with your team and making sure everyone is on the same page will help things run that much smoother. Be sure to take some time to show your staff and extra help appreciation. They are valuable to you, so show it. Everyone could use more encouragement, love, and praise! Don’t be afraid to lift your team and encourage them throughout the day.

  5. Prepare Yourself Mentally.

Everyone handles stress differently but this day can be very taxing emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Remember, you are spreading love on this day. Be kind to your team, be kind to yourself, and be kind to your clients. You are creating works of art to spread love and admiration to your clients and their loved ones. Take pride in your work. With the preparation you have done, get into a good head-space and enjoy yourself. Instead of dreading this busy holiday, go into it with a healthy and positive attitude. You’ve got this!

  6. Prepare Your Drinks & Snacks.

Be sure to drink your water and hydrate your mind and body. Need I say more? It might be helpful to prepare snacks and drinks for the busy days ahead. It can be so easy to forget to eat and drink so prepare for yourself and have these things on hand.

  7. Prepare Yourself For Any On The Fly/Last-Minute Buyers.

With the busyness that life brings, you may have some clients coming to you on the day of desperately seeking your magical gifts. Do you have something to offer them? Are you dead set on telling these clients no? If you are looking to serve these last-minute buyers, it wouldn’t hurt to have a couple of extra pre-arranged bouquets on hand. Having pre-arranged options could be incredibly helpful in case of emergencies, mistakes, or last-minute buyers.

  8. Prepare To Document Your Day/Creations For Content.

Now I know this day is crazy but if you can, capture your work. Don’t forget to document your content. If you are fortunate enough to have a photographer on hand or a social media manager, make sure they are capturing content. This is a hectic time but capturing your work will allow you to have this content to use for your business. You never know what Reel trend will pop up on Instagram, so prepare yourself with some great content.

  9. Prepare Your Finishing Touches & Materials.

Finishing touches matter. They do. You’ve put all of this work into your designs but are you all set with your packaging? Those finishing details matter and will set you apart. Take the time to make sure you have all that you need for wrapping, safely packaging deliveries, branding, etc., It may be beneficial to do a refresher with your team on how to wrap the bouquets exactly how you desire. Include thank you cards, flower care instructions, your business card, and/or client message cards to put those finishing touches on your products. You will be glad you did.
