Hey Fleur Friends & Business Entrepreneurs!
Happy Friday!
When we think back on last week’s Summit, we can’t help but feel inspired, rejuvenated and most importantly supported. If you had a chance to attend this year’s summit you know that there is no question if support is provided for you and your business. This summit left many attendees feeling ready to begin their journey, continue their journey or grow their journey equipped with the necessary tools, mindset and education.
What is so special about the summit is that it offered something for everyone and it was facilitated in a way that still felt personal and connected even through its virtual platform.
Dive in with us this week as we discuss 3 Takeaways from this years event!
3 TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS YEARS SUMMIT
In a time where the world needs extra support and love, this Summit could not have had better timing. Community and love were shared throughout the entirety of the week and the support was just unending! We’d love to share with you some incredible takeaways that you can carry with you into your daily business practices!
1. There Is Power In Self Care.
Self care. Oh what a very important part of our everyday lives that often gets neglected one too many times. No matter who you are or what you do in your daily life, self care is vital. It’s important that we take the time to put care and love into ourselves just as we do with our work. In the floral industry, there is quite a bit of wear and tear on the body as we are lifting and shuffling, pushing, cutting, reaching, etc., It is our job to not only care for our work, our clients and our teams but also most importantly to care for ourselves.
It’s really good practice to listen to our bodies and see what they need. Maybe you could use a massage, grab a supported mat for your feet for the long hours you stand, elevate your table height so you’re not cranking your neck while working, turn on enjoyable music while you create, hydrate and nourish your body with all the good things. Taking time to care for our physical bodies and our mental state is essential for success. We love that mental health has been talked about so much in this last year because it is at the forefront of our health.
When you feel good, you can get out of bed, spread joy to those around you and work and do your best. Filling up your tank and giving yourself the love and care you deserve will only set you up for success and longevity. Be kind to yourself!
2. There Is Power In Education.
Come on now! Knowledge is power! There is so much power in education. We love hearing that our journey as students is unending and evergrowing. How many times do you feel more equipped and qualified when you have a solid understanding and foundation on a topic you are sharing with someone? Do you ever find yourself saying, “Aw man, I know too much?”, lol, we hope not! You can truly never know too much about anything. When it comes to floral design there is so much information out there to serve you and your creative needs.
Fleursociety has helped to foster up a community that is generous and open to building up the current and future generations of designers. It says a lot about the industry professionals who are so eager to share their knowledge with us all so that we can all be successful. Whether you take classes to sharpen up your design skills, find a mentor and start a mentorship program, push yourself to attend workshops, share your creations and build your website presence, etc., there is education all around you to build you up and equip you to be that much better.
Imposter syndrome is a very common feeling that comes over a lot of creatives in the industry. Feeling like you are not good enough or not equipped and undeserving all can be feelings that come from this syndrome of inadequacy. Being confident in knowing you have the knowledge, skills and know how to do your work and do it well, will help to ease some of your doubts and leave you feeling strong and confident. Don’t ever let your journey as a student end. It’s amazing what new education can do for you and your heart!
3. There Is Power In Community.
“We are family!” Yes honey, you read that right, we are family. The floral community is one of the most welcoming and inviting communities we have ever been a part of. This community seeks to lend a hand and lift those up around us so that we can all thrive together. As much as there is a competitive market and industry, there is also a huge level of care and support that is unmatched.
This community has opened up a channel of communication to connect floral designers from all over the world to share their tips, tricks and helpful advice with those who need it and are willing to listen. Community has a way of shaping and encouraging those who are a part of it and without it this industry would lose its momentum.
We can’t tell you enough how inspired and more prepared we feel moving forward with our business endeavors knowing we have the resources and the right people to reach out to for any matter, big or small, good or bad. It’s a great feeling knowing people have your back and will want you to succeed! We love a growing, loving and supportive community!
NEXT STEPS
If you are feeling stuck, stagnant, unsure, happy, confident, excited, hopeful, defeated, uneasy, any of these emotions you may be feeling, just know you’re not alone. We go through seasons in our work where sometimes we feel on top of the world and other times we feel like imposter syndrome has gotten the best of us. It’s important to remember you take the steps to care for yourself, equip yourself with education and training and connect yourself with a supportive community around you.
We want you to build your business, grow your endeavors and bloom into the creatives we know you are capable of becoming!
